Dear Patient,
Self-care doesn’t have to be indulgent or time-consuming or expensive. Here’s a technique you can try right now.
Set a timer and spend one minute massaging your ears. Rub in circles, pinch, tap—whatever feels good. Be sure to get every bump and curve and crevice: the backside of the ear, that flap in the front, underneath the cartilage around the arch, the center.
Now stop and take a deep breath.
How do your ears feel? Tingly? Warm? Sore? If you’ve got a mirror handy, take a look. Has the skin changed colors—maybe darker or bright red? How does the rest of you feel? Calm? Invigorated? What do you notice?
The ears are a microcosm of the full body. Every organ, every appendage, every inch of you has a corresponding point on the ear. When you massage your ears, you send love and attention to your entire being. It’s a one-minute whole-body acupressure treatment you can do anytime, anywhere.
Love and gratitude,
Your Acupuncturist
