Dear Patient,
Sometimes a person will ask me, “What else should I be doing?”
I appreciate the question. This person is invested in their healing. They're not just relying on me to fix them. They are Taking Charge.
But I also get a little nervous when I hear this question. Because buried under that enthusiasm for Taking Charge and Doing More is the fear of Not Doing Enough. Inadequacy. Self-Blame. And those feelings are not really conducive to healing.
Because there's always more you could be doing, love. You could eat more vegetables. You could take up a healthy new habit like meditation or pickle ball. You could stretch and get massages and see the chiropractor and drink bone broth. You could donate more to charity, volunteer more, call an old friend more often, spend more of your dollars at local small businesses, recycle more, and more and more and more. There's always more to do.
And you could do it all and still feel the same.
So I ask you...what else do you want to do? What else makes you feel better? Maybe it's nothing more than what you are already doing, in this moment.
And that is okay.
Love and gratitude,
Your Acupuncturist
This resonates so hard with me! Always wanting to keep busy and be doing more in all aspects. I forget that it's okay to just BE!
