Dear Patient, My sister-in-law Stephanie recently introduced me to the wonderful book Joyful by Ingrid Fetell Lee. It’s about the joy-producing power of our physical surroundings, and our emotional resonance with colors, patterns, textures and shapes. For example, research shows that curved lines make us more relaxed and happy than jagged ones, and that repeating patterns of small identical shapes, like polka dots, can lift our spirits.
I needed this reminder today. It is so easy to feel overwhelmed with the tasks we have ahead of us. Now I see the JOY in student work that surrounds me in my classroom.

Everyday you literally speak to my soul. LOVE this!
