Highlights
Dear Patient,
Well, it’s been a year, hasn’t it? We’ve celebrated accomplishments and suffered losses. We’ve set out on new adventures and retreated to the comfort of the familiar. I’ve dialed back my writing schedule here, launched a podcast, and had fascinating conversations with fellow acupuncturists. We also have a lot of new subscribers here at NFYA—welcome, new subscribers! For folks who are new here, or for folks who like year-end highlight posts, or if you just need a reminder of how amazing you are, I present…Notes from Your Acupuncturist’s 2022 Highlights.
Below you’ll find some of my favorite posts from this year, or some of my most popular posts, or just stuff that I think bears repeating. It’s a busy time of year for all of us, and my hope is that these highlights give you an excuse to slow down and breathe for a minute or two. I’m trying to do more of that myself.
I’m Just Here for My Shoulder: but are you really?
Branches: Chinese Medicine teaches that we must treat the root of a condition, but what if we can only reach the branches?
Where to Put the Needles: my joke that no one ever laughs at
New Frontiers: Chinese Medicine…in….spaaaaace!!!
Comparison: grow old and don’t look back
Inner Journeys: a very woo-woo note
Miracles: as in, you are one
Does Acupuncture Help with That?: yes, yes it does
Plateaus: if you’ve hit one, great!
How Many: sooooo many!
Blockages: they can be our friends
Self-preservation: your body is not the enemy
Un-Rules for Healthy Living: I’m a lifelong rule-follower, but some rules need to be thrown out the window
Signs: they are everywhere
Bleeding: why some points bleed and others don’t
The Big Question: what does acupuncture actually do??
3AM: why this is when you wake up in the middle of the night
Alchemy: why I get acupuncture
Health is Not a Moral Virtue: seriously, it’s not
Movement and Empty Space: this one’s a cheat—it’s technically from 2021 but I like it so here we are
So that’s it! Those are the highlights! I look forward to sharing new writing and introducing you to more of my acupuncture friends in the new year. In the meantime, I hope the holidays bring you comfort, rest and peace. See you in January.
Love and gratitude,
Your Acupuncturist
