Dear Patient,
Over the weekend, most of us in the US turned our clocks back an hour as Daylight Savings Time ended. Are you feeling a bit out of sorts? The brain struggles with the disconnect between the natural light we observe and what the clock tells us. What a difference an hour makes.
It gets dark so early now. Even though we rolled our clocks back, it feels like we've lost an hour of light at the end of the day. But we could try instead to see it as gaining something: an extra hour of dark. An extra hour of yin.
What could we do with this extra hour? Yin is quiet, contraction, repose. Yin is slow-moving and deliberate. Yin is introspection. Yin is dormancy. Now is the time to surrender to these gifts of yin as winter approaches. The light will return soon enough.
Enjoy your extra hour of dark.
Love and gratitude,
Your Acupuncturist
LOVE this perspective!! It's so wonderful!!!! It can be so hard to change the way we see things, but once we practice it and put it into motion, it's literally life changing! Thank you for this thought! Your brain is so beautiful and mindful, Alexa!!!
P.S. I just got back into town last night from my marathon of traveling all month so now I can schedule to come see you again!!! My brain and body are ready to see my fave bartender!!!
