Like a Person
Dear Patient,
Recently as I was pulling needles from a patient after her first ever acupuncture treatment, I asked her how she felt. She thanked me—for the treatment, for the clinic environment, for the affordability of it all—and said this:
“This helped me feel like a person.”
She said she never thought acupuncture was something she’d be able to do for herself. Price is often a barrier to people getting acupuncture, but at my clinic, a community clinic, we charge a price almost everyone can afford.
We all want to put something good into the world, but what good does it do if barriers stand in the way of people finding that good stuff? Sometimes we erect barriers as armor to protect our tender creations. We hesitate to put our work out into the world for fear of it being rejected or judged or scorned or ignored. But that doesn’t do us, or anyone else, any good.
What’s the good you want to share with the world? Put it out there. It might help someone else feel like a person.
Love and gratitude,
Your Acupuncturist
