Healers
Dear Patient,
One of the hardest parts of my job is knowing that I can’t fix everything. I want to ease my patients’ suffering, but acupuncture can only do so much. Sometimes I’m placed along the pathway of a patient’s journey to bear witness, to hear the story of their pain, to offer the touch of another human. I’m grateful that being an acupuncturist gives me an excuse to do so.
And in my own moments of pain, I’m reminded that healing comes in unexpected forms, from many people, most of whom don’t have a medical degree. Healing comes in texts and phone calls, heartfelt words, hand-drawn cards from children, cookies and flowers left on the porch, hugs from people I’ve only just met.
It’s good to remember that we all have something to offer to someone who’s suffering. Good medicine is around us and within us, waiting to be shared. Thank you to the healers in my life.
Love and gratitude,
Your Acupuncturist
