Happy Equinox
Dear Patient,
Today is the equinox, a good day to ponder the nature of yin and yang.
Yin and yang are opposites: darkness and light, night and day, moon and sun. They are ever-changing forces held in dynamic tension, the fullest expression of yang containing the seed of yin and vice versa. One cannot exist without the other.
On the equinox, night and day exist in equal measure, yin and yang for a moment in perfect balance.
It’s a good day to acknowledge this ephemeral quality of yin and yang. One continuously transforms into the other, their dynamic interplay ceaseless. Perfect balance of two opposing forces happens in an instant and then is over. Balance is a moment: a tightrope walker, a ballerina on pointe, a flash of equal day and night.
Tomorrow begins the slow march of yin toward its fullest expression at the winter solstice. For today, let’s appreciate this moment of balance.
Love and gratitude,
